What Is SQL Server Configuration Manager :-

Actually SQL Server Configuration Manager Helps Us to manage the services associated with SQL Server, to configure the network protocols used by SQL Server, and to manage the network connectivity configuration from SQL Server client computers. It is a snap-in for Microsoft Management Console (mmc.exe).

Manage Services:-

Using SQL Server configuration Manager start, pause, resume, or stop the services, to view service properties, or to change service properties. Also it is used to start a Database Engine using startup parameter.

How to Find SQL Configuration Manager in Newer System :-

To open SQL Server configuration manager in newer version Microsoft Management Console UsesSQLServerManager<Version>.msc  file (e.g SQLServerManager14.msc) to open SQL Server Configuration Manager in SQL Server 2017

Here are the paths to the last four versions when Windows in installed on the C drive

  • SQL Server 2017    C:\Windows\SysWOW64\SQLServerManager14.msc

  • SQL Server 2016    C:\Windows\SysWOW64\SQLServerManager13.msc

  • SQL Server 2014   C:\Windows\SysWOW64\SQLServerManager12.msc

  • SQL Server 2012   C:\Windows\SysWOW64\SQLServerManager11.msc
